I agree with the idea of Bro. Ibs.......1000 % the identity of the Yakan will never fade and change by any other tribes, it will be always a YAKAN.
Bro. Aliazar, the one that you asked us to be united among the people of Tausug is that only for you there in Jolo and sorry to say that. The Yakan People of Basilan never been considered themselves as a Tausug ever since the history of Basilan.
Now, you are telling us to come again with your ideas to unite us, its impossible again since we already experienced what MNLF did to us. We praised the leadership of the Tausug during the MNLF - Misuari Era, but he failed. Why, because the Tausug people is very selfish......in terms of position Tausug never recognized the Yakan Constituents.....and Why??? The Tausug is always after the Yakan, even in Basilan they are trying to manipulate everythings in their capacity. Look at it, Basilan is for a Yakan and majority of the people is Yakan, but what the Tausug did during Misuari, never been appointed a Yakan Chairmanship in Basilan and most of the Chairman is Tausug in the MNLF. Now again, you are here to convince us...
Sangbatan si Ibs, mag TNT neku hadja si Basilan and you said Bangsa Sug it will not accept to us......Kuweh dusab pain nu uweh ganah panghati kami.......Sug duk Tasug is sali sali du...., Sug is the place and Tausug is the people of Lupah Sug. What about Lupah Basilan do you think we will accept as Sug? No... We are Yakan and can never been as Sug nor Tausug.......Sorry to say, we have our own Identity as a Yakan of Basilan and we are proud of it....
I just want to share with you our experienced with regards to tausug in terms of position in the Province of Basilan. Misuari and other Tausug Leader never gave a chance the yakan to handle nor to hold a higher position after Tausug in our place. Ex-Congressman Gerry Salapuddin never been appointed by Misuari as a Chairman of MNLF in Basilan but rather appointed all Tausug Commander. Luu si iyan there is something indiscrimination among us.
As what we heared from Tausug Brothers that the Yakan is Tausug, sibu da san laung nila in Yakan, Tausug da........my brother, am not arguing you but to share our experienced towards your tribes how they treat us. But I hope, this will serve as the mirror of the Tausug towards us.
When Marcos offered a good position to MNLF commanders the Tausug left the Yakan in the hills and took advantages and grab what the government offered to them until such time Gerry Salappuddin surrendered cos uway tagaran hat punglu in dihil ha Yakan. Amu ini in kita namu ha mga taymanghud namu ha Tausug. In Tausug maka paghula ha Lupah Basilan, no problem for us for as long as they love us, but look if Yakan will live in Lupah Sug and Magnakura duun do you think will Tausug accept it? No....
